Review: A romance that I can barely call a romance with a jerk for the main male character and a push over for the main female character.

Love? Where does love come into this? Anne pretends to be her sister and Lord Hugh decides to marry her. And she doesn't want to marry him. Unwillingness isn't unheard of in romance (at least from my limited experience), but Hugh decides to marry Anne merely because she doesn't want to marry him. What kind of reasoning is that? And through the beginning of the book he degrades and derides women. He believes that are beneath him and not worth listening to. Anne tries her hardest not to marry him and very obviously doesn't want to marry him, but he forces her to marry him anyways. She has to take drugs to able to be comfortable enough to have sex with him. Enjoying physical contact doesn't mean that you should start caring for the damn man!

And he's still a pretty damn big asshole. Although, mysteriously, he mentions that he enjoys the fact that his wife is educated. Where did that come from? Anyways, so they have lots of sex. Sometimes Hugh isn't as much of an asshole, but other times, he acts like his pre-married self. And somehow, Anne starts to care for him and vice versa. There is some drama where she tries to leave the castle. Anne does admit to caring about him, but she is very cautious about trusting him especially after the incident, which I'm glad of since it show she still did have something of a head on her shoulders.

Rating:

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to those like very Alpha males in their romance. Even still, those and other people might find Hugh a very despicable character.

Review: A wonderful tale of forbidden love with characters who I love and plenty of sex to tantalize. 

This book did have a good deal of sex in it, but it didn't hinder the romance at all. Instead, the sex complemented the romance. I loved Aileen and Niall. Aileen was a strong woman who put up with so much in her husband. She was incredibly loyal to the idea of being a wife even though she didn't love her husband. She is willing to fight for what she wants even though it does take a bit to summon up the courage. Niall was a strong and sensitive character. He did have a tendency to run away from his problems without trying to solve them, but luckily, he changes that in the story.

I saw it coming, but I still couldn't believe that Aileen's brother would marry her to that fiend! I like that she has no issue with enjoying Niall as much as she can before going to get married. She is incredibly clever and does manage to escape. Of course Niall rides away and leaves her with the fiend. Thankfully, a turn of events leads Niall to Aileen again. I found it a little hard to believe Aileen's brother's change of heart. I also didn't want to feel sympathy for the fiend, but I did. 

Rating:

Recommendation: I would recommend this who enjoy romance with Highlanders and those who don't mind a little sex with their romance.

A Case of Not So Mistaken Identity

Review: An enjoyable romance with great characters and a nice slow buildup.

I immediately fell in love with Jack Audley. He is incredibly charming, handsome, and very witty. Grace Eversleigh is very patient with the dowager and that shows her strength of character since the dowager is very very aggravating. She is a very nice person as well. It's been a couple days since I've read the book and Jack sticks out much more in my mind than Grace. It's a small thing, but I like that the woman on the cover actually looks like the character in the book. I found the premise of the book a little hard to believe even though it does set up the story. 

The romance between Grace and Jack builds slowly and I like that Grace reacts with humor and amusement to his advances. She does come to care for him (although it's a case of instalove for both of them), but it takes some time (relatively) and involves slow seduction. I feel like there is a healthy dose of friendship in the relationship between Grace and Jack, which is always a nice thing to see. Jack's seduction of Grace was something they both wanted, not just a man deciding he wants to seduce that beautiful woman just because. There was such a build up between the characters that the actual sex was a bit of a letdown. 

Rating:

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to fans of historical romance and those who love devastatingly witty characters.
