A Delicious Tale of Forbidden Love

Sins of the Highlander by Dawn Halliday

Summary: One taste of the forbidden love of a Highland warrior makes her ravenous for more. And more…

Aileen Munro doesn’t want another cruel husband. Yet her cousin, the laird of the Mackenzies, has pledged her to a man much worse than the last. Aileen knows her duty is to her laird and her future husband, but her old friend Niall MacRae has burst back into her life. Now a full-fledged warrior, Niall’s quiet strength sparks such a burning desire within her that she can’t control her wicked, erotic fantasies of having him in her bed.

Niall has come to accompany Aileen her to her brother’s castle, where her betrothal will secure an alliance between the bordering clans. Niall has always had strong feelings for Aileen, but to touch her will be a betrayal of the oath of fealty he has made to his laird.

Torn between loyalty, duty, honor and love, Aileen and Niall have denied their forbidden attraction for too long. When they finally unleash their passion, nothing can keep them apart. Not even the risk to their honor…and their lives.

Note: This book was previously published under the title SINS OF THE KNIGHT. It has been heavily revised and expanded from its original version.

Review: A wonderful tale of forbidden love with characters who I love and plenty of sex to tantalize.

This book did have a good deal of sex in it, but it didn't hinder the romance at all. Instead, the sex complemented the romance. I loved Aileen and Niall. Aileen was a strong woman who put up with so much in her husband. She was incredibly loyal to the idea of being a wife even though she didn't love her husband. She is willing to fight for what she wants even though it does take a bit to summon up the courage. Niall was a strong and sensitive character. He did have a tendency to run away from his problems without trying to solve them, but luckily, he changes that in the story.

I saw it coming, but I still couldn't believe that Aileen's brother would marry her to that fiend! I like that she has no issue with enjoying Niall as much as she can before going to get married. She is incredibly clever and does manage to escape. Of course Niall rides away and leaves her with the fiend. Thankfully, a turn of events leads Niall to Aileen again. I found it a little hard to believe Aileen's brother's change of heart. I also didn't want to feel sympathy for the fiend, but I did.

Recommendation: I would recommend this who enjoy romance with Highlanders and those who don't mind a little sex with their romance.
